Delete your account
Last updated 2026-09-03
fomo is a product of Onsight Labs LLC. This page explains how to permanently delete your fomo account and the data attached to it, what that removes, and the few things that stay behind. Deletion is permanent: there is no undo and no recovery window.
Delete it in the app
This is the fastest path, and it finishes on its own with no request to wait on.
- Open fomo and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap the settings button in the top right.
- Scroll to Account and tap Delete account.
- Read what goes away, tap Delete my account, then confirm.
Your account is gone by the time that screen closes, and every device you were signed in on is signed out.
If you can’t get into the app
If you already uninstalled fomo, lost the phone, or can’t sign in, email hello@joinfomo.app from the address you signed up with, with Delete my account as the subject. We delete it and reply to confirm. Allow up to 30 days, though it is normally much faster.
If you replied to an invite as a guest, without ever making an account, the same address works. Tell us which invite you responded to and we remove that response.
Uninstalling is not deleting. Removing the app from a device leaves the account and its data in place. Use one of the two paths above.
What deleting removes
- Your profile: name, username, photos, bio, prompts, links, home base, and settings.
- Your RSVPs, poll and proposal votes, and your friendships.
- Your crew memberships, and the invites you sent.
- Your notifications, reactions, saved plan templates, and blocks.
- The push tokens for your devices, so fomo can no longer notify you.
- Upcoming plans you host. Anyone who had responded gets one notice that the plan is off.
- Crews you own pass to the longest-standing member. If you were the only member, the crew is deleted with the account.
- Your sign-in itself, which ends your session on every device at once.
What stays, and why
Three things outlive the account, and each one is deliberate.
- Messages you sent stay in their chats, with your name off them. They show as from a deleted member. A chat is a shared record, and pulling one person’s half out would leave everyone else in it reading a conversation full of holes. Photos you sent in a chat stay on the same rule. If you want a specific photo taken down, email us and we take it down.
- Safety reports you filed stay, with your name off them. A report is evidence about someone else, so it has to outlive whoever filed it. What is kept is who was reported and what happened, not who reported them.
- Anything the law requires us to keep. In practice that means records tied to a child-safety report we are required to make to NCMEC. Nothing else, and never for any other purpose.
Encrypted database backups can still hold a copy until they age out on their normal schedule. We never use one to bring a deleted account back.
