Child safety standards

fomo is a product of Onsight Labs LLC. fomo is for people aged 13 and older, and it exists to help people make real-world plans with people they know. This page sets out how we handle child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), because an app where people talk and meet has to be clear about it rather than assume it away.
What is not allowed
Any of the following gets an account removed, with no warning:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or any sexualized depiction of a minor, drawn, generated, or photographed.
- Sexualizing a minor in any way: in a message, a photo, a plan, a crew, a profile, or a display name.
- Grooming. Building trust with a minor to sexually exploit them, including moving a conversation off fomo to do it.
- Sextortion. Threatening to share someone’s intimate images to get money, more images, or anything else.
- Trafficking a minor, or advertising a minor for sexual purposes.
- An adult seeking a romantic or sexual relationship with a minor.
This applies to everything on fomo, including private crew and plan chats. Private does not mean unenforced.
How to report it
In the app is fastest. Press and hold any message and choose Report, or open someone’s profile and choose Report. Pick Child safety as the reason. Reports about child safety are separated from the general queue and looked at first. Reporting is confidential: we never tell the person they were reported. You can block them at the same time, which cuts contact both ways, and you never have to explain why.
By email. You can also write to us at safety@joinfomo.app. Tell us what you saw and where, and do not attach the material itself.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In the United States you can also report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) at CyberTipline.org or 1-800-843-5678.
What we do about it
When we find apparent CSAM on fomo, we remove it, we disable the account, and we report it to NCMEC’s CyberTipline as US law requires of us. We preserve the related records for that report rather than deleting them, and we cooperate with law enforcement acting through proper legal process.
For other child-safety reports we remove the content, and depending on what happened we warn, suspend, or permanently remove the account. We aim to act on a child-safety report within 24 hours.
How we try to prevent it
fomo asks for your date of birth when you set up the app and does not let an under-13 signup continue. Plans reach people through the friend graph rather than a public feed, so a stranger cannot browse into your plans. Crews that choose to be discoverable can set a minimum age, and keep their chat, member list, and plan details visible to members only. Photos in a chat are stored privately and are readable only by people in that chat.
